The Artist

Bon Allen
with Wilson
People think she's joking, but the truth is Bon did indeed grow up without a TV. Which makes her a handy person to know in a power cut.
Bon developed a love of painting from an early age, but was forced to put down the paintbrushes in her early teens.
Self taught, Bon has had work in the Saatchi Gallery, been Suffolk Mind's Artist in Residence in 2018 and now continues to paint as it brings balance to her life. She refuses to paint humans as she says they are far too easily offended, so loses herself in the wonder of predominantly animals and the odd landscape!
Bon took a many decade break from painting to "be a grown up" but her Heart Dog Wilson the Chow Chow made plans to show her what she was missing and she took it back up in early 2024 while nursing him through his end of life care while dealing with Chronic Kidney Disease.
Wilson passed away aged 3 and a half in April 2024, but his legacy lives on in having forced Bon to paint more dogs. Every dog she paints gives her opportunity to connect with the relationship it has with it's human and the all the love she has left for Wilson but can no longer give him comes out on the page.
Known for having a sense of humour, Bon brings animals to life and injects personality with her own unique style. She hopes to grow old disgracefully, painting animals whilst listening to classical music or hip hop, surrounded by Chow Chows.
She is currently owned by Noa the blind rescue Chow Chow and Bob.
